The picturesque ride takes approximately 8 hours to Syabrubesi. After driving around 30 km, we approach pristine villages on the banks of the river Trishuli. Additionally, we get to take a glance at the enchanting panorama of the Himalayas. Say hello to Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and the peaks of the Langtang region. Finally we are going to start trekking today! From Syabrubesi our destination for the day is the Lama Hotel in Changtang, shortly after Rimche. Firstly the trail crosses through Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang Khola river. Then, the trail gradually ascends up to Bamboo. Later, you trek up gently to Rimche, situated at the river bank. This is a nice place to take a rest for lunch. Afterwards, we are going to continue walking to reach our overnight accommodation: The Lama Hotel. Along the route it might be possible to see red pandas, monkeys and maybe even bears, if you are lucky.

Walking time: 6-7 hours

Trek to Langtang Village (3541m)

Good morning in the mountains! Continuing our journey we are going to trek to the Langtang Village today!  At Ghora Tabela, the trail emerges from the forest. While walking here, you could be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the white monkey and some local bird species. Once, this was a Tibetan resettlement project. However, nowadays it is a Nepali army post though it has no permanent inhabitants. The trail continues to climb gently and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze during the summer months. A small monastery is situated here, which we can visit shortly if you like. Then, we are going to arrive at the village of Langtang, the headquarters of the Langtang National Park. The houses of Langtang and its neighboring villages are in flat-roofed traditional Tibetan style. You will be surprised how beautiful the stone walls enclosed fields of buckwheat, potatoes, wheat, turnips and barley fit into the landscape. We stay here overnight at tea house.

Walking time: 5-6 hours

Langtang to Kyanjin Gompa (3900m)

Today we are going to trek from Langtang Village to beautiful Kyanjin Gompa. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail reaches the settlement at Kyangjin. Here are a small monastery and a government-operated cheese factory. We should arrive at Kyanjin by lunch time, allowing time to acclimatize and explore the area. Enjoy the dramatic setting, with snow covered peaks surrounding us in all directions. From this point, you can enjoy the panoramic view of Dorje Larpa (6990m), Langtang Ri (6370m), Langtang Lirung (7245m) and many more. Stay overnight at tea house.

About the Langtang Valley

Langtang Valley is a famous region in the Himalayas, north of the Kathmandu Valley. It borders Tibet to the north and includes the Langtang National Park, where many local folks settled. The majority of its residents are Tamang.

Especially unique for the Langtang area are the various flora and fauna species: Through the differing climatic zones in the park, there are many different trees, such as oak, maple, pines, rhododendron and many more. Animals that inhabit the park are, among others, black bears, white monkeys, red pandas, yaks, and various bird species. There are also stories that Yeti have been seen in the Langtang Valley.

Next to the Buddhist monastery in Kyanjin Gompa, another spiritual site are the Gosainkunda lakes, a pilgrimage site for Hindus.

The original Langtang Village was completely swiped away in 2015, by a massive avalanche as result of the earthquake.
