Yuksom Dzongri Goecha La Trek is a classic trek in Sikkim in the Eastern Himalaya with views of Kanchenjunga the third highest mountain in the world. Your journey starts by visiting the old British Raj hill station of Darjeeling followed by a classic ten days trek in Sikkim. This state of India is famous for its large variety of flora and fauna especially its orchids of which they are over 600 species. At the beginning of this beautiful trek you walk through sub-tropical forests and pasturelands of grazing yaks and then enter the pristine high alpine at higher altitudes.
The highest Camp on the trek is next to the sacred Samiti Lake, and the next morning we start early for the trek to the Goecha La pass opposite the immense eastern wing of Mt Kanchenjunga. There are many other impressive mountains seen on this trek including Kabru, Rathong and Pandim.
Day 01: Arrive at Bagdogra Airport/NJP and drive to Yuksom (1780Mts) (153Km/6-7hrs)
Day 02: Trek from Yuksom to Sachen (2195Mts) (9-10Km/5-6Hrs)
Day 03: Trek from Sachen to Tshokha via Bhakim (2985Mts) (8Kms/4-5hrs)
Day 04: Trek from Tshokha to Dzongri via Phedang (4060Mts) (10Kms/5-6hrs)
Day 05: Dzongri day at leisure, Short Excursion.
Day 06: Trek from Dzongri to Thangsing via Kockchurang (3800Mts) (10Kms/5-6hrs)
Day 07: Trek from Thangsing to Lamuney (4453Mts) (6Kms/2-3hrs)
Day 08: Trek from Lamuney to Goechala(5002Mts) via Samiti Lake back to Lamuney (12Kms/6-7hrs)
Day 09: Thansing/Kokcharang to Tsokha via Phedang (16Kms/7-8hrs)
Day 10: Tshoka to Yuksom (15 Kms/5-6 Hrs)
Day 11: Yuksom – Bagdogra – Delhi
